Carnival and Other Holidays
Carnival is a four-day event that begins forty days before the Catholic holiday of Lent. Celebrations begin the Friday before Ash Wednesday and continue until the following Tuesday. Carnival is the peak holiday season in Brazil, during which offices and businesses are closed and Brazilians take time off from work and travel. Carnival is an extremely popular holiday that attracts thousands of visitors from around the world, so make sure to plan your trip well in advance.
